Gwen MacGregor works in several media. Her sculpture, photographs and video reflect her close observation of time and how its passage shapes small dramas or uncannily familiar situations. In 1998 her work was featured in a solo exhibition at the Southern Alberta Art Gallery, in 2001 her work was seen in the Present Tense Project series at the Art Gallery of Ontario, Toronto, and in 2010 she was featured in a solo exhibition at Kitchener/Waterloo Art Gallery entitled Research, Flow Charts and Data Banks. MacGregor's work has been seen in several group exhibitions across Canada and in Mexico City, London, Prague, Venice, Shanghai and Los Angeles.
Recent group exhibitions include Manif d'Art 5 (2010), the Quebec City Contemporary Art Biennial, Conceptual Cartographies, 2006 Saidye Bronfman Art Centre, Montreal, Timelength, 2004, Leonard and Ellen Bina Gallery, Concordia University, Montreal and We are Here Now at the Art Gallery of Ontario, Toronto (2008). Her videos have been featured in Paris, Berlin, and Madrid as part of Rencontres Internationales festival (2006). In 2008 her work was featured with Sandra Rechico in the collaborative exhibition Maps in Doubt curated by critic and scholar Dan Adler for Mercer Union, Toronto. MacGregor's artist's book and catalogue Disappearing Things was published for her solo exhibition of the same title at Rodman Hall, Brock University, St. Catharines (2008).
In 2003 MacGregor was the recipient of the Friends of the Visual Arts Award, Toronto. More about Gwen MacGregor
