Kristan Horton is a visual artist who resides in Toronto. His work is inspired by popular culture, particularly film. He studied at Guelph University and the Ontario College of Art and Design, and has had an international exhibition career since the late 1990's. He has shown his work at Glassbox, Paris (FR), ZKM, Karlsruhe, Germany, Kiasma Museum of Contemporary Art, Helsinki, Finland and Inter Communications Center, Tokyo . Horton's work has been shown in Toronto at the internationally connected Art Metropole as well as with Wynick/Tuck Gallery and Diaz Contemporary. Horton was recently featured by Marco Deseris in La Repubblica delle Donne (Milan) and by Ian Carr-Harris in Contemporary Magazine (UK). In 2007 there will be an exhibition of Horton’s acclaimed Strangelove/Strangelove series of photographs, brought together for the first time at the Art Gallery of York University. This exhibition will be accompanied by a publication by AGYU curator Philip Monk. In July, Horton will participate in the annual Beyond/In exhibition at the Albright Knox art gallery in Buffalo.
