Lucy Pullen is currently based in Victoria, British Columbia, where she is Assistant Professor, Sculpture, at the University of Victoria. Pullen received her Masters of Fine Art from Tyler School of Art, Temple University, in Philadelphia, and Bachelor of Fine Arts from the Nova Scotia College of Art & Design in Halifax. Pullen produces works in a wide range of media: drawing, sculpture, photography, and actions are only some of the disciplines she has recently explored. She is also known for her multiples, which have been regularly featured by Art Metropole. Her works are often formally independent of one another, and appear determined from an internal logic that leads to idiosyncratic ends. Her solo exhibition, A Thousand Miles of Dust and Ashes, at the Contemporary Art Gallery in 2003 brought Pullen recognition for her inventive, multi-media practice that is characterized by a conceptual materialism.
