Nicolas Baier has become known for his inventive use of digital imaging techniques. Drawing on his vast personal collection of images, details of everyday objects and situations he finds remarkable, Baier produces photographic works from the point of view of a painter.
Baier's work has been featured in several solo and group exhibitions since first gaining wide recognition in the Biennale de Montreal (2000). The Musee d'art contemporain de Montreal mounted a major exhibition of his work in 2003 and comprehensive publication was subsequently produced in conjunction with a solo exhibition at the Montreal Museum of Fine Arts in 2006. Pareidolias, a solo exhibition of his most recent works was organized by the Musée régional de Rimouski in 2008 and circulated by the National Gallery of Canada (2009-2010).
Nicolas Baier's work is found in various collections, including that of the Montreal Museum of Fine Arts, the Musee d'art contemporain de Montreal, The National Gallery of Canada, Ottawa, and the Art Gallery of Ontario, Toronto. More about Nicolas Baier
