In his first solo exhibition at Jessica Bradley Art + Projects, Kristan Horton conitnues to engage the virtual world of image appropriation while indulging in the amateur's pleasure in research and realization with the means at hand in his studio. The exhibition brings together sculpture and photographic work as well as several newly released diptychs from the Strangelove series. Horton has been critically recognized for his exhaustive Strangelove Strangelove (2003-2006) project in which, using household objects, he painstakingly re-created selected scenes from the eponymous film by Stanlely Kubrick . This series will be brought together for the first time at the York University Art Gallery, opening April 25th, and will travel in July to the Contemporary Art Gallery in Vancouver. A hardcover book including all 200 photo diptychs from the Strangelove series will be launched in mid-May.
