Flat screen video

Gwen MacGregor's first solo exhibition at Jessica Bradley Art + Projects features new photographic and video works based on subjects as diverse as the simultaneous geographic and experiential mapping of a wilderness voyage and cosmic time accessed through satellite images transmitted over the internet. Among the works on view will be several new split-screen video pieces on small jewel-like screens and her acclaimed four channel installation Cruise (2005).
Known for her work in several media, including sculptural installations, photography and video, MacGregor has established a singular body of work through the close observation of time as it is manifested in objects, acts and movement. Whether at home or abroad MacGregor's subject is her immediate environment where she records temporal inscriptions that would otherwise elude scrutiny to reveal the wondrous and uncanny in the familiar.
MacGregor's work was featured in a solo exhibition at the Southern Alberta Art Gallery in 1998 and in the Present Tense project series at the Art Gallery of Ontario, Toronto, in 2001. She has also participated in group exhibitions across Canada and in Mexico City, London, Prague, Venice, Shanghai and Los Angeles. Gwen MacGregor was the recipient of a Toronto Friends of the Visual Arts award in 2003. Her works are in the collections of the Art Gallery of Ontario and Oakville Galleries, as well as private collections.
