Pascal Grandmaison / Barbara Probst

May 14, 2005 — June 18, 2005

Montreal artist Pascal Grandmaison was recently described in the National Post as “the stuff of art stardom,” Grandmaison has become known for the contemplative subjects that occupy his large photographs. His approach defies conventions of the portrait genre capturing psychological complexity and vulnerability through a minimal and detached view.

New York based artist Barbara Probst began her career in her native Germany. Probst’s “Exposure” series breaks the photographic moment into several points of view through the use of multiple cameras in a single shot. In Probst’s work photographic “truth” is subject to fragmentation, surprising twists and cinematic drama, offering new interpretations of the classical fleeting photographic moment.
